Kelbee and I were in the mood for some old fashioned pound cake today. Here is a pretty easy recipe. Be sure to do as the instructions say to have that perfect texture! Hope you enjoy!
Old Fashioned Pound Cake
Prep Time30 minutes
Cook Time1 hour30 minutes
Total Time2 hours
Ingredients
3 cups sugar
3 cups flour
6 eggs
1 cup butter (2 sticks)
1 cup heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla
Crumble Topping:
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
Melted butter to liking
Instructions
Have butter and eggs room tempature
Butter and flour pan (I like to butter the pan, pour flour in it and put plastic wrap over top of pan. Shake to evenly distribute the flour. Pour out the excess flour into trash.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating for one minute after each addition. Sift the flour and add it to the creamed mixture alternately with the whipping cream. Mix until fully incorporated.
Stir in the vanilla.
Pour into prepared pan.
Combine topping mixture in a separate bowl and mix with melted butter until you reach your desired texture.
Add crumble topping to prepared dish and put in cold oven. Bake on 300 for 90 min. If you check it with a toothpick and its not clean, add an additional 10min and keep checking.
This is my pound cake recipe I have used for years. I will try toppings sounds great! Thanks.
Tip: when my cake comes out of oven I flip on plate then flip over on cake taker and seal it. Then in 30 minutes I come back and with towel
Wipe off water. Cake is so moist from steam and still crusty on top. ā¤ļøššš
